Physical fitness is a measure of body’s ability to work effectively in free time activities, to be healthy, to resist or withstand hypokinetic diseases, and to experience emergency situations. Physical fitness is essential for men and women irrespective of age in order to maintain good health and can be generally achieved through exercise and proper nutrition.
Physical fitness training includes five essential components namely cardiovascular fitness training, muscular strength training, flexibility training, muscular endurance training, and body composition training. Of which muscular strength need not necessarily be included in the regular exercise routine.
Importance Of Cardiovascular Fitness Training: Cardiorespiratory endurance is very essential for complete health and fitness. It is the ability of heart to supply oxygen rich blood to the essential working muscles. The formation of cardiovascular endurance or resistance involves the capacity of body and heart in expelling CO2 (carbon dioxide) from the muscles through the lungs. If a person has cardiovascular fitness then, several activities that are required to handle in life can be easily performed. Lower heart rate can be maintained and high level of body cell oxygenation can be provided. The standard example of the physical activity and sports that are related to cardio and vascular endurance are aerobics, jogging, swimming, walking, and cycling.
Importance Of Flexibility Training: Flexibility is the ability to move body joints through full range of motion. Stretching is associated with flexibility, maintaining, or increasing the range of motion by doing physical activity. Maintaining or increasing flexibility is very much necessary to protect joints, to keep them healthy, to strengthen back in order to prevent back pain, and to decrease the presence and effects of arthritis and to reduce muscle-tendon injuries. Without regular stretching, tendons and joints become tight, hard, and flexibility levels of body parts are weakened. Being flexible makes muscles to stay loose and mobile. Flexibility gets reduced with age, so it is very essential to do flexibility exercises daily.
Importance Of Muscular Strength Training: It is the weight that a muscle or muscle group can lift and strain in a single effort. Weight training or strength training are the methods of boosting muscle mass which provides raw strength to the body, resulting in fitness and weigh loss. If muscle mass is increased, then the capacity of body to burn calories is also increased and body fat ratio is reduced. It also helps in maintaining bone structure and prevents decalcification (loss of calcium from bone). It is for this reason, space shuttle astronauts undergo vigorous exercise program when they are in space.
Importance Of Muscular Endurance Training: Muscular endurance must not be confused with muscular strength, as the benefits they provide are different. Muscular endurance is the ability to repeat considerable level of muscular effort like shoveling snow. To develop maximum range of muscle capabilities, both muscular endurance and muscular strength must be increased.
Importance Of Body Composition Training: The body composition deals with the amount of fat in the body. The rate of adding pounds of fat is associated with the lack of physical exercise. The high fat content ratio is an indication of higher tendency to develop coronary heart disease, diabetes, joint and back pains, arthritis and also higher risk of tendon-muscular accidents and injuries caused due to lack of exercising.
Apart from the above-mentioned health benefits of physical fitness training, it also provides benefits to mind. Physical fitness training helps in improving concentration, removing depression, handling stress better and in building self-confidence and self-esteem. Thus, in order to have physical fitness, exercises must be regularly done.
